What are night lenses?
These are a type of hard contact lenses worn overnight while you sleep and removed in the morning leaving you with clear vision without glasses or contact lenses! They work by temporarily re-shaping your corneas like dental braces, the changes are completely reversible when the lenses are not worn.
These lenses are ideal for myopic (short-sighted) and low astigmatic patients. These lenses can also be used for myopia control to prevent prescription from getting worse and reduce the need of getting new glasses every year.
For successful fit, the lenses do require more appointments than soft contact lenses and routine monitoring.
Miss M's Ortho-K story
Miss M had recently noticed some changes to her distance vision at work and while driving. She had always been a bit myopic (short sighted) but after seeing her optometrist they said her myopia had progressed! She is now a -2.00 in her right eye and a -1.25 in her left eye.
She knew she had to update her glasses, but she did not like the idea of wearing them. So, she was introduced to night lenses or Ortho-K. We took some measurements to confirm she would be eligible for these lenses and then were able to order her first pair of night lenses. They fit perfectly on her eyes and started to re-shape her cornea with the first night and within 2 days she was getting 20/20 vision without any glasses or contacts during the day!
She is quite happy with the freedom it has provided from glasses without the need for any laser or surgery. She says it fits in with her nightly skincare routine quite well!
